This technology featuring high reduction rate due to high-temperature aerobic fermentation decomposition using microorganisms is an ideal cost-cutter for waste processing. Fire accidents caused by lithium ion batteries thrown in garbage often occur at Clean Centers run by public bodies and local governments as well as at private facilities for industrial waste treatment, and traditional fire detection IR cameras and sensors prove more often than not helpless. Cohesion agent SUIMU by Act Co. Ltd. makes possible simple and inexpensive sewage treatment. Thus, treatment cost can be cut as compared to outsourcing treatment of all sewage to an industrial waste disposal company when in-house treatment is assumed difficult. As compared to conventional cohesion agents, SUIMU has a number of advantages, namely, dewaterability of sediments formed after treatment, reaction speed, and easiness of pH adjustment. Isuzu was founded in Nakahara-ku, Kawasaki City about a half century ago. Since encountering solar power about 30 years ago, we have mainly been engaged in the construction of solar power facilities for residences and industries (mega solar, self-consumption), construction of detached housing, and remodeling and other residential businesses.

The Kawasaki Natural Gas Power Plant has a power generation capacity of approximately 840,000 kW on a 60,000 m2 site, supplying power generated by firing clean natural gas as fuel to ENEOS and Tokyo Gas. The motor consists of a combined cycle system (maximum efficiency of 58%) that combines a 1400°C class gas turbine equipped with a low NOx combustor with a steam turbine, greatly reducing CO2 emissions per power generated. In addition, with a smoke denitration system to reduce NOx emissions, hybrid wet dry cooling towers to counter white smoke emissions, and about 20,000 trees planted on site, this is a power plant that is rich in greenery where we carry out operations, mindful of the living environment of the people in our local community.

This is an environmentally friendly power generation facility that supplies "CO2-free electricity" with biomass single-fuel-firing power generation equipment that uses woody biomass fuels and no fossil fuels such as petroleum or coal. The Kawasaki Biomass Power Plant generates electric energy equivalent to that consumed by about 38,000 typical households per year, reducing CO2 emissions by approximately 120,000 tons per year. In addition, this is an "urban biomass power plant" designed to meet the strict environmental standards of Kawasaki City and is equipped with environmental systems such as smoke desulfurization and smoke denitrification systems that are not found in biomass power plants located in rural areas.

This heat recovery apparatus (product name: ReCalo+, or ReCalo) helps to realize significant reductions in fossil fuel use and CO2 emissions, and to date, we have sold about 150 units in Japan nationwide. Our customers include a diverse range of users including dishwasher and industrial food tray washer users, hot-spring operators, linen supply providers, and food and beverage manufacturers. In terms of the effects of reduction, many of these companies currently enjoy a 20-30% reduction in fuel costs for a saving of over 1 million yen per year.

With support from NEDO, we have manufactured a proprietary biomass fuel "SMO" from wastewater oils and fats that have traditionally been disposed of as industrial waste sludge and developed our "Food Green Generation System" that uses this fuel as a heavy oil alternative for power generation. We are already collecting wastewater oils and fats in our kitchen wastewater management business at more than 500 major food and beverage chains mainly in the Tokyo metropolitan area, and our actual cumulative power generation performance tops 500,000 kWh. It is estimated that 1.1 million tons of wastewater oils and fats are discharged annually from restaurants and food factories nationwide. By using these regional resources in our Food Green Generation Systems, we can create clean energy, save energy in water treatment processes associated with water purification, reduce sludge disposal volumes, and achieve decarbonization of up to 3.7 million tons-CO2/year. Currently, with the support of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, we are also engaged in the development of a system for "digitally managing all processes from the collection of ‘waste oil’ as a regional resource up to the calculation of CO2 reduction amounts" (patent acquired). In comparison with conventional hydroponics, vegetables grown using organic hydroponics systems tend to be richer in flavor with a higher aromatic content, which makes it possible to improve the quality of produce and develop brand products by reducing the use of chemical fertilizers.
We are currently conducting research with the Kawasaki Environment Research Institute as we believe that this technology can help reduce nitrous oxide, a global warming gas emitted during conventional wastewater treatment processes as a result of denitrification. Tokyo Keiki provides support for preventing river disasters and managing water resources by measuring flow rates and water levels. Our clamp-on ultrasonic flowmeter can measure flow rates through pipes with the installation of a sensor from outside the pipe. Flow rates can be measured without suspending water supply because there is no need to cut or reconfigure pipes. This flowmeter can be used for both small and large pipes, with adaptable diameters ranging from 13 to 6,000 mm. Some of our sensors are IP67/68 certified, which allows them to be used to measure flow rates even when immersed in water. Our non-contact radar level gauge can also measure water and liquid levels by transmitting radar pulses and capturing echoes from the liquid surface. This gauge can be actively used in measuring water levels in rivers and dams, as well as liquid levels in tanks at food and pharmaceutical plants. It has a maximum measurement range of 30 m with an accuracy of ±2 mm. One of the best features of this gauge is its tracking rate of ±2 m/sec, which enables it to capture and output fluctuations in liquid levels at 2 m per second.

Our alloys are simply produced from iron and copper and are extremely useful as substitutes for rare metals and high-grade copper alloys, as well as for solving the problem of the brittleness of copper alloys and reducing costs. We supply tap water and industrial water to individual households and companies in Kawasaki and also treat sewage that is emitted and then discharge it into the ocean and rivers. However, in that treatment process, a large amount of electric power is consumed and greenhouse gases and waste are also generated. For that reason, we are taking initiatives for introduction of energy-saving equipment, effective utilization of renewable energy, and effective use of resources, contributing to preservation of the global environment, and aiming to create a good water environment.

Liaison Center for Creation of Industry & Environment was established in August 2004 through the voluntary efforts of thirteen companies consisting mainly of companies located in the Kawasaki coastal area. With the Keihin coastal area as our main field, we are making use of platform functions for collaboration with industry, the government, academia, and citizens and promoting activities by aiming to contribute to invigoration of industry and resolution of environmental and energy problems. The Keihin coastal area is a prominent industrial area that has been a driving force of Japan’s economic growth. Many manufacturing companies that take the environment into consideration have accumulated in this area, and it continues to be a special area that will be a driving force of Japan’s sustainable development in this century as well. In order to promote a favorable cycle for the environment and the economy, a cycle that will consider, execute, and modify optimal solutions in light of the situation at the relevant time is important. For such a cycle, it is essential that the government, companies, universities, and citizens bear roles and put collaborative initiatives into practice. As our name suggests, we are aiming to create industry and an environment through cooperative activities. We hope to be able to bear a role for matching the needs of companies and the government and to make contributions to make it possible for the Keihin coastal area to develop as a smart kombinat. We want to contribute to realization of initiatives by which companies will become invigorated and the environment will become better, and for which citizens will encourage those activities and the initiatives will be noticed by the world.

My name is Che and I am from South Korea’s DGFEZ. I am a local public servant who works for Donghae City, which is a local government of South Korea.
We conduct support work for things such as approval and authorization and government support from a series of matters such as provision of the information that is necessary until a location in South Korea is decided, local observation tours, and translation and interpretation for each scene until a factory’s start of construction, completion, and operation, and seven Japanese companies, such as Osaka’s Company D and Company T, Tokyo’s Company N and Company D, and Ishikawa’s Company N, are located in DGFEZ. I am very happy to be able to participate in “Kawasaki International Eco-Tech Fair 2021 Online” on this occasion, and I hope to make connections with many people.
The Daegu Gyeongbuk area is an area in which expansion by many Japanese companies, including Toray and AGC, has been active since the 1970s, and management activities are being conducted now as well. Using mainly disaster prevention and disaster mitigation for rivers and the environment as research targets, Hydraulics Laboratory Department of Civil Engineering, Tokyo University of Science is conducting research with the aims of clarifying actual situations related to those things, establishing prediction methods, and resolving problems. Recent major themes are ① clarification of the actual situation of heavy rain disasters and proposal of damage mitigation measures, and ② clarification of the actual situation of plastic trash movement in basin areas. When such research is executed, we measure things ourselves through activities such as onsite observation and conduct numerical simulation on computers in order to reenact and predict phenomena that are occurring at such sites. In particular, we are placing importance on having laboratory students go to sites as much as possible, experience natural damage and environmental problems that are occurring in natural water areas first hand, sometimes create environmental measuring devices themselves, and conduct monitoring themselves. In addition, because it is necessary to conduct many forms of difficult work for actual onsite investigation, there are also cases in which all of the members of the laboratory conduct joint observation and investigation.
