Since our founding in 1999, we have expanded our business as a pipework company into a group specializing in water treatment maintenance based on our philosophy of contributing to a recycling-oriented society and environmental conservation through "water" and "energy." We are headquartered in Gunma Prefecture and operate mainly in the Kanto-Koshinetsu area. Water treatment facilities come in a diverse range of types ranging from facilities for factory manufactured water including water used for manufacturing semiconductors and liquid crystal displays, medical grade pure water, pure water used in the production of drinking water, and softened water used in boilers, as well as a variety of facilities for treating wastewater including not only that from food products but also various factory effluents, sewage, feces, and effluents from garbage treatment plants. Furthermore, we have launched a new business in 2016 where we aim to develop and manufacture our own products based on our vision of becoming a development-oriented company. We focused on how we might recover heat from wastewater using our technologies and knowledge in water treatment and have developed an apparatus that contributes to energy conservation. We have acquired international patent rights for this product, and it is currently available for purchase. A characteristic of this apparatus is that it is capable of recovering heat from wastewater, a feat that was impossible on conventional heat exchangers. This heat recovery apparatus (product name: ReCalo+, or ReCalo) helps to realize significant reductions in fossil fuel use and CO2 emissions, and to date, we have sold about 150 units in Japan nationwide. Our customers include a diverse range of users including dishwasher and industrial food tray washer users, hot-spring operators, linen supply providers, and food and beverage manufacturers. In terms of the effects of reduction, many of these companies currently enjoy a 20-30% reduction in fuel costs for a saving of over 1 million yen per year.

Exhibitor's Profile
With support from NEDO, we have manufactured a proprietary biomass fuel "SMO" from wastewater oils and fats that have traditionally been disposed of as industrial waste sludge and developed our "Food Green Generation System" that uses this fuel as a heavy oil alternative for power generation. We are already collecting wastewater oils and fats in our kitchen wastewater management business at more than 500 major food and beverage chains mainly in the Tokyo metropolitan area, and our actual cumulative power generation performance tops 500,000 kWh. It is estimated that 1.1 million tons of wastewater oils and fats are discharged annually from restaurants and food factories nationwide. By using these regional resources in our Food Green Generation Systems, we can create clean energy, save energy in water treatment processes associated with water purification, reduce sludge disposal volumes, and achieve decarbonization of up to 3.7 million tons-CO2/year. Currently, with the support of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, we are also engaged in the development of a system for "digitally managing all processes from the collection of ‘waste oil’ as a regional resource up to the calculation of CO2 reduction amounts" (patent acquired). Going forward, with Scope 3 in mind, we will propose concrete measures useful for realizing a circular economy, decarbonization and SDGs to major restaurant chains, general food retail groups, major developers, related food factories, local municipalities and citizen groups.

Robeam is engaged in business that contributes to agriculture and culture in Japan under the banner of “robots, agriculture and area development”. Robeam President Ishihara Ryotaro is collaborating with the CHO Institute of Technology (headed by Akira Nagashima, inventor of solar sharing) in research and development, focusing on energy that powers robots. Solar power is a key technology in realizing the aim of a decarbonized society. However, ordinary solar panels that are installed in fields have some disadvantages, including the need for large spaces and the negative effects of water retention and herbicides from deforestation. Solar sharing technologies compensate for these shortcomings because they use existing farmland and other resources to generate electricity. At the end of last year, we installed a prototype of “Solar Sharing 3S” (patent pending) in Ichihara City. In September this year, we manufactured 10 systems. The “3S” in “Solar Sharing 3S” is short for the product’s strong, simple and slim features. The system is wind-resistant, vegetation-friendly, and easy to install. We will initially bind and sell educational programs specifically tailored for research at agricultural high schools and for environmental education at elementary and junior high schools. We have great expectations of the proposals on aluminum processing technologies, installation of mounts (including electrical installations), and sales at this exhibition.

Tierraponica is committed to promoting advanced agricultural technology with the aim of realizing a society that can continue to develop sustainably. The agricultural sector today is facing a number of problems in forming a sustainable society, such as production systems that are dependent on chemical fertilizers produced by the petrochemical industry, and a large amount of food waste at consumer sites.
A member of the bio-venture Chitose Group, Tierraponica’s mission is to contribute to the realization of a recycling-oriented society that will continue to develop in a sustainable manner. They aim to accomplish this through the production of liquid fertilizer from locally-available organic liquid waste and the production of vegetables with the reduced use of chemical fertilizers by maximizing the activity of microorganisms (The above organic hydroponics system was developed by NARO.)
In comparison with conventional hydroponics, vegetables grown using organic hydroponics systems tend to be richer in flavor with a higher aromatic content, which makes it possible to improve the quality of produce and develop brand products by reducing the use of chemical fertilizers.
We are currently conducting research with the Kawasaki Environment Research Institute as we believe that this technology can help reduce nitrous oxide, a global warming gas emitted during conventional wastewater treatment processes as a result of denitrification. Please feel free to contact is if you are interested in learning more about the effective utilization of waste liquid derived from organic materials or the production of high value-added vegetables.

Tokyo Keiki provides support for preventing river disasters and managing water resources by measuring flow rates and water levels. Our clamp-on ultrasonic flowmeter can measure flow rates through pipes with the installation of a sensor from outside the pipe. Flow rates can be measured without suspending water supply because there is no need to cut or reconfigure pipes. This flowmeter can be used for both small and large pipes, with adaptable diameters ranging from 13 to 6,000 mm. Some of our sensors are IP67/68 certified, which allows them to be used to measure flow rates even when immersed in water. Our non-contact radar level gauge can also measure water and liquid levels by transmitting radar pulses and capturing echoes from the liquid surface. This gauge can be actively used in measuring water levels in rivers and dams, as well as liquid levels in tanks at food and pharmaceutical plants. It has a maximum measurement range of 30 m with an accuracy of ±2 mm. One of the best features of this gauge is its tracking rate of ±2 m/sec, which enables it to capture and output fluctuations in liquid levels at 2 m per second.

Since its establishment in 1939, NIHON GENRYO has supported Japanese water supplies as a leading manufacturer of filter media. Utilizing the technological capabilities that we have been refining for many years, we have developed "SIPHON Washing technology" that eliminates the need for filter replacement. We have won numerous awards for providing products not only to water purification plants nationwide but also to the private sector for their contribution to cost and the environment. The role that NIHON GENRYO should work in the future is to deliver "water that can be drunk with peace of mind" to people in countries and regions that cannot be solved by wide-scale water supplies like centralization alone. As the first step, we have developed a device that can be moved by downsizing the water treatment device, which had been the common sense until then. With that mobility, we have built up a track record in de-centralized small-scale water supplies in Japan and overseas and in the field of disaster recovery support. This activity will be focused on together with the SDGs activities as the "Water Planet Project". Through the "manufacturing" that we have cultivated so far, we want to deliver shining water of life to children born in the future and to people living anywhere. That is the unchanging wish of us.

Nippon Basic develops portable, high-functioning water purification systems and seawater desalination systems. The high-performance water purification system is capable of producing potable water from rivers, ponds, lakes, pools, and water used to fight fires. The seawater desalination system produces potable water from seawater or water containing salt. A primary feature of our products is that we have condensed equipment that is on the same level as water purification or seawater desalination plants into a compact size, which makes it possible to move equipment to water sources. A second feature of our products is the use of manual power or gasoline-powered engines to operate the pumps that pump up water, which allows the system to be used during power outages or in areas that are off-grid. In Japan, our systems have been introduced in municipalities, medical institutions, schools, local communities, and apartment management associations, mainly as a provision against suspended water supply caused by natural disasters. Our products are being used in other countries as a means of securing clean and safe water in daily life in countries and regions where water conditions are poor, in cooperation with JICA and NPOs that work around the world. Our products are listed as technologies that aim to curb climate change; in 2021, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan adopted our proposal for the use of our technologies as an effective product package for a decarbonized society, and we were also included in the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry’s Climate Change Adaptation Good Practices.

Yamaha Motor was established in July 1955 when the motorcycle division was spun off from Nippon Gakki (now Yamaha Corporation). In the 1980s, when the families of expatriate employees working at a motorcycle manufacturing plant in Indonesia complained that the tap water was brown and smelled like iron, we developed our own home water purification system to purify tap water. In 2010, we began to sell and operate a prototype of the current system locally on a trial basis. Since then, we have developed the Yamaha Clean Water System, which has been introduced throughout Asia and Africa. This system is an improved water purification system for villages in developing countries based on the “slow sand filtration system” used in many parts of the world. It is mainly used in areas around the world where people have difficulty accessing safe water. By using surface water from rivers and lakes as raw water, the YCW-008A can supply 8,000 liters of purified water a day (water for approximately 2,000 people). MTA alloys are new iron and copper alloys that have been successfully mass-produced for the very first time in history. MTA alloys may just be the strongest copper alloys in the history of humankind, as it uses the familiar elements of iron and copper to produce properties that are similar to those of copper alloys commonly found around the world. Copper prices continue to soar. Our alloys are simply produced from iron and copper and are extremely useful as substitutes for rare metals and high-grade copper alloys, as well as for solving the problem of the brittleness of copper alloys and reducing costs. We hope that you will be able to learn more about MTA alloys at this exhibition that will help you develop your own. First, copper and copper alloys are used in a variety of industries, but heat resistance and strength pose problems. MTA alloys can be produced by mixing any amount of copper with iron or iron with copper. For example, more iron or more copper will result in completely different physical properties, such as thermal conductivity or conductivity properties. The common factor is that the melting point is high at all ratios, so heat resistance will be higher. In addition, any ratio of iron to copper will have an effect on the strength of the iron, which will also increase strength. MTA alloys are also attracting a great deal of attention as a substitute material for beryllium copper, phosphor bronze, titanium copper and copper graphite due to its properties. For example, MTA4060 is a copper alloy with a ratio of 40% iron to 60% copper that is being examined as an alternative to copper tungsten, which is used as an electrode for diemilling electric discharge machining. In addition, MTA9100 and MTA7030 are in the spotlight as alternative materials to high/low beryllium copper for use in electrodes, molds and chill vents. The use of the copper alloy metal powder in MTA9100 for metal 3D modeling is also rare in the industry. Copper alloys that had until now been impossible to form have become a reality, and we have started to conduct studies on co-applications for complex electrodes, heat sinks, and precision molds, for example. There may be a time in the very near future when metal 3D printers will be used to mass produce products. There are now six metals that are said to be essential for electrification, which goes together as a set with decarbonization (rare metals, nickel, copper, tungsten and cobalt). However, these metals have seen supply chain risks due to risks in trading countries, so the development of alternative materials is being encouraged around the world to ensure stable supply. MTA alloys, safe and reliable alloys of iron and copper, can be used as alternative materials, and will play a significant role in achieving carbon neutrality and the SDGs. As copper prices soar to all-time highs, the prices of copper alloys are also rising. Capable of solving the issue of heat resistance with copper alloys, cutting costs and even contributing to achieving carbon neutrality, MTA alloys aim to become indispensable in the EV/5G age. Be sure to try it out.

☆ Becoming an innovation force that will lead SDGs and high-level foreign human resources who are full of entrepreneurial spirit! Based on our experience thus far of having trained entrepreneurs (350 people) who match foreigners with Japan’s small and medium-sized companies, and through the fifteen years since our establishment, Initiative for Development of Entrepreneurship in Asia (hereinafter referred to as IDEA) is connecting human resources discovered in regions such as Asia and handling reform of the management of small and medium-sized companies. In regions such as Asia, there are many high-level human resources that Japanese small and medium-sized companies, and of course large companies, want to acquire. In this era in which the working-age population is declining, why don’t you use IDEA’s study sessions and matching to meet and acquire outstanding human resources who will lead the industrial sector? It will also become easy to conduct overseas expansion through which different cultures will be encountered. Through things such as seminars, study sessions, and inspection tours, IDEA members learn from actual examples in which many high-level foreign human resources have been acquired and sufficient strengths are being cultivated. Something for which we are currently proceeding with preparations is the “Foreign Entrepreneur Championship” (tentative name). We plan to connect with companies that want to acquire outstanding foreign human resources. Previous seminars have been held by obtaining cooperation by various cities such as Kawasaki, Yokohama, and Niigata and by other parties such as chambers of commerce.

We conduct maintenance of the dignity of member patent attorneys, registration of members, contact, and supervision, as well as improvement of members’ abilities through training and research about and diffusion of the intellectual property rights system, and we are regularly conducting provision of information related to intellectual property and free-of-charge consultations for people who want to obtain intellectual property and people who are interested in intellectual property. Japan Patent Attorneys Association Kanto Branch is a local organization of the Japan Patent Attorneys Association that consists of patent attorneys in Tokyo and seven prefectures of the Kanto region (Tokyo, Kanagawa Prefecture, Chiba Prefecture, Saitama Prefecture, Ibaraki Prefecture, Gunma Prefecture, Tochigi Prefecture, and Yamanashi Prefecture). We are working to develop the industrial economy of the Kanto region through public relations, diffusion, and support activities for the intellectual property rights system. Please feel free to use us as a familiar partner for intellectual property.

Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) is a government-affiliated organization that was established in 1966 for the purpose of transmitting Hong Kong’s business platform to various places throughout the world. Through our 50 bases throughout the world, we are providing business opportunities to Hong Kong companies, particularly small and medium-sized companies, and providing support so that those companies can search for partners in various places throughout the world. We are also conducting exhibition business, and hosting approximately forty international exhibitions and international conferences per year. Although it is still a situation in which it is difficult to travel from Japan to Hong Kong because of the effects of COVID-19 infection, our exhibitions will be held both onsite and as online exhibitions. It will be possible to conduct business discussions with overseas suppliers and buyers while remaining in Japan. This time, we will introduce fairs that we are holding in relation to electronics, the environment, and lighting. Many startup companies are also participating, and there are opportunities in Hong Kong to meet companies that could not be met in Japan. We hope that Japanese companies that are interested in overseas expansion of their own products online will utilize us!
