| Ｗaterworks/Ｓewerage of Ｋawasaki Ｃity | Kawasaki City is building a energy-saving waterworks system which avoids the use of pumps as much as possible and instead draws water from the source taking advantage of undulating topography. Kawasaki is also conducting a joint project with Tokyo Electric Power Company in micro hydroelectric power generation which produces electricity by effectively using the flow of hitherto unutilized water. In sewage treatment, Kawasaki City is not only securing a favorable water cycle through sewage processing but is also creating waterside spaces that use highly treated water. In addition, Kawasaki City is working to achieve healthy water and substance cycles by, for example, converting incinerated sludge to the raw material for cement and utilizing heat from the incineration of sludge to heat water for swimming pools. | D-13 |
